About the Awards

The Lonmin Design Innovation Award was set up eleven years ago to recognise and reward outstanding design in platinum and to push the design standards of jewellery to greater heights. From its humble beginnings in 2003 the award has grown into one of the top accolades in the UK jewellery industry.

The competition is divided into two categories. “Emerging Designers” recognises designers with less than five years’ commercial experience, and “Established Designers” gives its attention to those who have been in the business for more than five years. There are six winners across the two categories.

For the second year running, a theme has been set for this year’s competition: New Frontiers.

The winners will be selected from drawings of their design by a top panel of judges in May, and the winning designs will go into production by the designers.
